The Royal Calcutta Turf Club  (RCTC) arranged for a tournament 'Musical ride performance and jumping' for the second time on 25.1.2020. Mr. Enrico Piperno Stewards said that the interest of horse riding among young children was slowly growing up.The Riding School is encouraging riding and the RCTC is encouraging both though racing is their first priority.. It is not a dangerous sport. He also said that the media publicised for the sport to encourage people. Mrs. Revaz Z. Martin, Manager Riding said that the oldest polo club of the world was in Calcutta. Now the horse riding has become costly in comparison with cricket and football.
Moreover, the fear of accident keeps the guardians and the children away from riding. She asked the children to be brave and fearless. Mishap could happen anytime in any sport.   On the 12th January 2020, the birthday of Swami Vivekananda's, a picnic of police and news media personnel was arranged in Rabindra Nagar ground at Chinsurah, West Bengal. Mr. Humayun Kabir, Police Commissioner, in presence of other dignitaries reminded of Swamiji's call for everybody to become right person. He also inspired the children with small gifts for study material to build up themselves for a glorious future of the country.

Postponement of Calcutta Race Day from 18th February to 19th February, 2020

 The Nursing Training School at Hooghly,West Bengal arranged for a lamp lighting ceremony on 22nd January 2020. In this ceremony the 1st year nursing students took oaths in the name of Florence Nightingale, the founder of modern nursing, before taking up the nursing activities in the hospital ward. The ceremony was attended by medical dignitaries and students of higher classes.

Polo, a sport of horseback mounted team is one of the oldest known team sports as well as oldest equestrian sport. Polo game rules are formulated for the protection of participants i.e. players and horses and the games are conducted and controlled by umpires. One lady was arrested by Chandannagar police commissionerate  for spreading rumours through the social media and around 125 people were arrested for creating disturbance in Telinipara, Bhadreswar, West Bengal. The internet connection of the area are stopped from 12 May to 17 May 2020. 

With a view to clear the pending cases, the court procedure through on-line video conferencing has been started at Hooghly District Court. On the 21st April 2020, the first day of the court the hon’ble judge was  Smt. Chaitali Chatterjee (Das), and one case was resolved. On the 24/4/2020, the second day of the court there were in total 19 cases including 3 cases under POCSO ACT. Out of three POCSO cases bail petitions in two cases were rejected and in one case the bail was allowed. Out of the remaining 16 cases, for 13 cases bails were allowed and in three cases bails were rejected. Sri Manas Sanyal 2nd Addl. District/Sessions Judge was in charge of District Judge. Mr. Sankar Ganguli, District Public Prosecutor  was there. All the cases were heard through Video Conference. On the 28th April 2020, the third day of the court the judge was Sri Manas Sanyal.  Out of 11 case including three POCSO cases and four other major cases bail petition have been rejected.

Shri Manahar Valjibhai Zala, Hon’ble Chairman, National Commission for Safai Karmacharis, Govt. of India, arranged for a press meet on 20th December 2019 at 1 p.m. in Gatidhara Meeting Hall, New Administrative Building, Chinsura, Hooghly alongwith other senior officers of the Commission. The invitees were informed that for the welfare of safai karmacharis a team of personnel of Commission regularly paid visit to different districts. He recommended to fill up the large number of posts of safai karmacharis in corporation and municipality. Mr Zala also recommended to upgrade the standard of living of safai karmacharis by providing healthy accommodation and ESI facility, insurance etc.

Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) are used in Indian elections to replace paper ballots in elections in India.
Voter verifiable paper audit trail (VVPAT) or verifiable paper record (VPR)  system enables EVM to record each vote cast by generating the EVM slip. It was first used in an election in India in Sep 2013.
